Driving Business Success

The Challenge

ServiceMaster approached us with a straightforward I.T Infrastructure in place. They required an I.T Service provider that would design and implement a fully scalable hybrid working environment for their business. They were running their custom software off a server that was located on-premises. Both ServiceMaster and ourselves knew this was not an ideal solution as it limited access to employees that were not based within their offices.

ServiceMaster had also communicated that potential business downtime was a major concern for them. As a result, we completed all the changes via a live migration, with no disruption to their working day.

The Solution

  • Install a new physical server on premises.
  • Configure a virtual terminal server to enable external staff to work remotely.
  • Move all documents and emails to office 365.
  • Complete the migration with no disruption to the day to day business operations.

The first step in the process was to upgrade their old server to a more scalable solution. By doing this, we were able to future-proof the I.T needs of the business so it can grow seamlessly alongside them. Then, once the initial consultation, design, and planning had taken place, we set to work on configuring a fully secure terminal server. We did this to allow the company to run multiple desktop sessions when the staff members logged in via a secure web portal.

To support the company’s cloud-based working further, we migrated all their documents and files to a secure online storage solution via SharePoint online.

We set out a hierarchical file structure to allow ServiceMaster’s senior management team to protect sensitive documents from the other staffing tiers while still having the flexibility to share individual files with staff and others outside the organisation.

The Benefit

Since implementing these solutions, ServiceMaster has seen a 90% increase in uptime to their I.T Infrastructure and a large increase in productivity from their workforce. In addition, they now have the flexibility to add users and scale up their I.T requirements in a fully flexible hybrid working environment, which is vital in today’s climate.
